Okorie Signs With Texas Tech
South Plains College sophomore guard Nick Okorie (Houston, TX) signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play basketball at Texas Tech University beginning with the 2008-09 season.

South Plains College head coach Steve Green earns this year's NJCAA Men's Basketball Coaches Association Division I Coach of the Year honors after leading the Texans (30-5) to a 67-56 win over Salt Lake Community College (Utah) in this year's title game in Hutchinson, Kan.

The South Plains College Texans claimed the school's first-ever National Championship in basketball with a 67-56 win over Salt Lake (UT) CC Saturday at the NJCAA Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.
South Plains Sinks Seward in Semis 77-65
Jonathan Hall scored 24 points and Luciano de Souza added 21 as the South Plains College Texans moved one win away from a National Championship with a 77-65 victory over Seward County (Kan.) Friday night in the semifinals of the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.
