Texans Crush Clarendon 80-47
The South Plains College men's basketball team stopped a two-game losing streak with an 80-47 win over the Clarendon College Bulldogs Monday at the Texan Dome.
The Texans (21-3 overall, 9-3 conference) had dropped two-straight road games, but returning back to the friendly confines of the Texan Dome seemed to help. South Plains took an early lead and held Clarendon to just 5 field goals in the first half. The Texans led 35-12 at halftime.
South Plains got their offense going in the second half, shooting almost 50 percent and scoring 45 points.
Luciano de Souza led SPC with 14 points, while Nick Okorie added 13, David Tairu had 12 and Jonathan Hall added 10. Also for SPC, Ladarius Hall scored 8, Landon Tatum and Carlos Dos Santos both had 7, Hugh Mingo scored 5 and Kendrick Johnson had 4.
For Clarendon, Justine Wallace was the only player to score in double figures with 11.
The Texans will host first-place Odessa Thursday at the Dome.
