SPC Men Dunk LCU JV 100-50

The South Plains College Texans opened up play in the McDonald's Classic with an easy 100-50 win over the Lubbock Christian University JV Chaps Friday at the Texan Dome.

South Plains (3-0) only led 40-27 at halftime, but outscored the Chaps 60-23 in the second half thanks to some hot shooting. SPC shot 67 percent after halftime while holding the Chaps to just 26 percent from the floor.

Ten different players scored for SPC. Jonathan Hall led the Texans with 26 points, while David Tairu added 16, Nick Okorie scored 12, Hugh Mingo had 11, Carlos Dos Santos added 10, Landon Tatum had 8, Luciano DeSouza scored 6, Kendrick Johnson had 5, Phillip Outley and Ladarius Hall each added 3.

For Lubbock Christian, Trey Merchant scored 13 points.

In the other game Friday, Clarendon College won a scorefest against Coastal Bend College 121-109. On Saturday, Clarendon will take on LCU JV at 1 p.m., while South Plains will face Coastal Bend at 3 p.m.
