SPC Wins at NMMI 90-71

ROSWELL, N.M. – Jonathan Hall scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the South Plains College Texans to a 90-71 win over New Mexico Military Institute Monday in Roswell, N.M.

Hall was one of five SPC players who scored in double figures. David Tairu and Nick Okorie both added 15, Lu Griffin had 13 and Landon Tatum scored 10.

The Texans (22-4 overall, 10-4 conference) jumped out to a 9-0 lead. They used another 9-0 run that included seven points from Griffin to go ahead 23-6 with 12:33 remaining in the half. The Broncos quickly got back within 11 (30-19), but SPC closed the half strong and took a 47-27 lead into halftime.

The lead continued to grow in the second half. With 10:11 left in the game, the Texans led by 30 (70-40). NMMI used a 12-0 run in the final 3 minutes to pull within 15, but that was as close as they would get.

Luciano de Souza added 6 points for SPC, while Hugh Mingo had 4, and Philip Outley, Tiago Jabur and Kendrick Johnson each added 2.

For the Broncos, Eric Stewart had 18 points and Kek Biel added 16.
