SPC Men Remain Perfect
The No. 5 ranked South Plains College Texans improved to 12-0 with a 93-82 win over the Western Texas College Westerners Thursday at the Texan Dome in Levelland.
South Plains (12-0 overall, 3-0 conference) scored the first six points of the game and never looked back. The Texans had a 14-point lead (26-12) at the 11:45 mark of the first half and never trailed in the game. The Westerners (9-4, 1-1) crawled within three late in the first half, but that was as close as they would get. SPC led 55-47 at halftime.
In the second half, the Texans pushed their lead to 16 before WTC made another run to get within five (79-74) with 4:58 remaining in the game. But down the stretch, the Texans hit six free throws to ice the win.
For South Plains, Nick Okorie scored 28 points while Jonathan Hall added 21. Also for SPC, Carlos Dos Santos came off the bench to score 10, Luciano de Souza had 9, David Tairu added 8, Hugh Mingo scored 7, Kendrick Johnson had 5, Taigo Jabur added 3 and Philip Outley scored 2.
For Western Texas, Derek Williams led the way with 18 points.
The Texans will not be back in action until Jan. 3 when they start a 3-game Arizona roadtrip with a game at Phoenix College.
