Texans Blast Baltimore City CC on First Day of SPC Classic
LEVELLAND – The South Plains Texans wasted no time letting Baltimore City Community College know whose house they were in as they knocked off the Panthers 113-54 on Friday night at the Texan Dome.
Sophomore Pre-season All-American David Tairu got the Texans off to a quick start with 16 of his 24 points coming in the first half. Tairu made 8/12 shots from the field, including 6/9 from three point range. Hugh Mingo scored 18 points on 8/10 shooting, Bo Ingram tallied 16 points of his own, which included making 9/10 free throws. Antwain Thomas added 11 points and Myles Walker scored 10, for a total of five Texans scoring in double figures. Also for SPC, Tramar Sutherland scored eight points and brought down 11 rebounds, Markhuri Sanders-Frison also added eight points and six rebounds, Landon Tatum scored six and had five assists, Brandon Pitts and Ladarius each chipped in with four. Josip Vranes and Allan Thomas added two points a piece.
South Plains' next game is 1:00PM tomorrow. The Texans will try to improve their record to 3-0 as they face Lon Morris College. Lon Morris defeated Clarendon in the early game Friday, 110-64.
