Texans, Lady Texans Opening Conference Play

Levelland, Texas - The South Plains College Texan and Lady Texan basketball teams will travel to Snyder, Texas this afternoon to take on Western Texas College to open conference play. The Lady Texans tip-off at 5:30 p.m. while the Texans are scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. Both games will be broadcasted live on KLVT 1230AM.

The Lady Texans, ranked 17th in the latest NJCAA poll bring an 11-2 overall record to the contest and have been led by Lubbock Estacado alum Taniqua Ards, who is averaging 16.0 points-per-game.

The Texans are sporting a 9-0 record and are ranked ninth in the NJCAA poll released December 2. David Tairu has been leading the way for South Plains, averaging 17.6 points-per-game.

The Texans and Lady Texans will return to the Texan Dome Saturday, December 6 to face Odessa College. The Lady Texans are scheduled to begin play at 2:00 p.m. while the Texans tip-off at 4:00 p.m. At halftime of the mens game, South Plains College will honor former Texan and NBA great Bo Outlaw. Outlaw is being enshrined into the WJCAC and Texan Hall of Fames and will be available to sign autographs following the mens game.
