SPC Men Defeat NMMI 92-73

LEVELLAND – Steve Harley scored 26 points to lead the No. 20 South Plains College Texans to a 92-73 win over the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos Thursday night at the Texan Dome.

The win improved SPC's record to 23-5 overall and 12-2 in WJCAC play. The Texans are still alone in first place with two games left in the regular season.

NMMI had an early 13-10 lead, but Harley scored 13 first-half points and Nick Okorie added 10 to help the Texans to a 44-39 halftime lead.

Two quick buckets by Constantin Motnii and another by Jonathan Hall helped South Plains push their lead to 10 (51-41) less than 3 minutes into the second half. The Broncos quickly got back within 4, but that was as close as they would get.

Harley and Luciano DeSouza hit back-to-back 3-pointers to increase the SPC lead to 63-51. Okorie then scored seven straight points and the Texans used a 12-0 run to push the lead to 81-57 with 4:33 left.

In addition to Harley's 26 points, Okorie added 18, Motnii had 16 and Hall scored 13 for South Plains. DeSouza pitched in 8, Jermaine Bolden scored 7, Delawn Armwood had 3 and Lu Griffin added 1.

For NMMI, Taichien Dickerson scored 16 points.

The Texans will play their final home game on Monday when they host Howard College at 5:50 p.m. The first 250 students (grades K through college) to come through the doors will receive a free T-shirt.
