SPC Men Down Midland 88-68
LEVELLAND – The South Plains College Texans stayed atop the WJCAC standings with an 88-68 win over the Midland College Chapparals Saturday night at the Texan Dome.
South Plains (19-5 overall, 8-2 conference) never trailed in the game and had a double-digit lead less than 6 minutes into the game. The Texans made 11 of their first 13 shots and used a 10-0 run to go ahead 26-7 as Midland went almost 5 minutes without a field goal. SPC sophomore post Constantin Motnii went a perfect 9 of 9 from the field in the first half as the Texans raced out to a 48-23 halftime lead.
In the second half, Midland (17-7, 7-3) never got closer than 19 points as the Texans continued their hot shooting. SPC finished 35 of 55 (.636) from the field for the game.
Motnii finished with 22 points, while Nick Okorie added 20 and Steve Harley scored 19. Also for South Plains, Jermaine Bolden and Jonathan Hall each had 8, Luciano DeSouza added 6, Justin Brown scored 3 and Jordan Frosch had 2.
For Midland, Tyrone Appleton and Nemanja Calasan each scored 14 points.
The Texans will host Western Texas Monday for Homecoming and Pack the Dome Night. Tipoff is set for 7:50 p.m.
