SPC Men Rout NMJC 89-66

LEVELLAND – Steve Harley made his current coach and future coach happy by scoring 25 points as the No. 19 ranked South Plains College Texans defeated New Mexico Junior College 89-66 Monday night at the Texan Dome.

University of Nebraska head coach Doc Sadler was in attendance to watch Harley, one of his recruits for 2007-08. Harley made 10 of his 12 field goals en route to his 25 points. He also pulled down six rebounds for the Texans, who improved to 18-4 overall and 7-1 in conference.

The Texans, who have won six games in a row, were dominant from the beginning. They quickly raced out to a double-digit lead and were up by 24 (44-20) at halftime. South Plains shot over 64 percent from the field in the first half.

New Mexico Junior College's Dominic Tilford, the leading scorer in the WJCAC, scored 22 points and hit a pair of 3-pointers in the second half, but the Thunderbirds couldn't get closer than 15.

For South Plains, Harley had 25, Constantin Motnii added 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Jermaine Bolden, Jonathan Hall and Nick Okorie all scored 11. Also for SPC, Luciano DeSouza had 8, Delawn Armwood scored 6 and Dustin Hawkins added 3.
