Texans Have No Trouble With Odessa

LEVELLAND – Steve Harley scored 19 and Nick Okorie added 16 as the South Plains College Texans defeated the Odessa Wranglers 61-41 Thursday at the Texan Dome.

South Plains (15-4 overall, 4-1 conference) used some great defense to get
the win. The Texans limited the Wranglers to just 29 percent shooting for
the game including just 23 percent in the second half. While SPC made seven
3-pointers, Odessa was just 1 of 16 on their 3-point attempts.

The Texans had a 10-point lead (14-4) just 6 minutes into the game and kept
their 10-point lead at halftime thanks to three 3-pointers from Okorie.
Odessa was never able to get closer than 10 in the second half. Delawn
Armwood hit a trio of 3-pointers of his own as SPC led by as many as 22 in
the second half.

In addition to Harley's 19 points and Okorie's 16, Armwood scored 13, Malik
Motnii added 5, and Khari Thompson, Luciano DeSouza, Lu Griffin and Jonathan
Hall each added 2.

For Odessa, Quintin Thornton led the way with 8 points.

South Plains will go on the road Saturday to play at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M.
