SPC Rodeo Starts Spring at Odessa
ODESSA – The South Plains College rodeo team returned to action after a five-month break when they competed at the Odessa College Rodeo this past weekend in Odessa.
Freshman Beau Marshall (Truth or Consequences, NM) had the team's best finish. Marshall placed third in tie-down roping with a total time of 21 seconds. He had a time of 10.4 in the first round and came back with a 10.6 in the short round.
In break-away roping, freshman Cassie Vierstra (Twin Falls, ID) placed fifth. Vierstra had a time of 3.0 seconds in the first round and 3.3 in the short round for a total of 6.3 seconds.
Freshman Chase Masengill (Santa Fe, NM) teamed up with Cole Jackson of Eastern New Mexico University to placed fifth in team roping. The duo had a time of 6.0 seconds in the first round and 16.2 in the short round for a total of 22.2.
Also making it to the short round on Saturday from SPC were sophomore Cody Jordan (Hobbs, NM) in tie-down roping and Vierstra in goat tying. Jordan had a time of 10.0 seconds in the first round and 23.1 in the short round to finish seventh, while Vierstra had a time of 7.6 in the first round and 8.7 in the second for a total of 16.3 to finish ninth.
The SPC team will be back in action this weekend in Snyder at the Western Texas College Rodeo. |
