Texan Rodeo Wraps up Season in Lubbock

LUBBOCK - The South Plains rodeo team competed in Lubbock and did well in their final competition of the season.

For the Lady Texans, Dana Weiser finished in a tie for first place with Haley Brum of Weatherford College in break away roping. Weiser finished her first round of competition in 2.8 seconds, and bettered that time in round two, finishing in 2.7 seconds for a total time of 5.5 seconds. Brittany Bell finished second in the goat tying competition. Bell had finishing times of 7.6 seconds in round one, and 7.0 seconds in round two. Haley Nelson Garrison and Ginger Hathcock competed in the barrel race competition for the Lady Texans, finishing fifth and sixth.

The Texans were represented by Jake Booze, who competed in tie-down roping. Booze finished the competition in sixth place, with a total time of 19.6 seconds.

The 2008-2009 Southwest Regional Standings have Dana Weiser ranked second in the women's all around competition, second in breakaway roping, and second in goat tying. Haley Don Nelson ranks fourth in barrel racing, Cassie Vierstra ranks fourth in breakaway roping. Brittany Bell and Kelli Lohse rank eighth and thirteenth in goat tying. For the men, Stewart Kinley and Ben McPherson rank eighth and fourteenth in bull riding. Jake Booze and Beau Marshall rank eighth and ninth in tie down roping.
