Three Track Athletes Sign
A trio of South Plains College track and field athletes signed letters of intent with four-year universities this week.
SPC sophomores Darrell Roddick, Asiya Iskakova and Crystal Wilson all made decisions on where they would continue their academic and athletic careers. Roddick signed with Texas Tech University, Iskakova signed with Texas State University and Wilson signed with Mississippi State University.
Roddick (North Charleston, SC) holds the SPC indoor school record in the high jump (7 feet, 1/4 inch) and triple jump (50 feet, 4 inches). He placed second in the high jump and triple jump at the 2007 NJCAA National Outdoor Championships. He was a two-time 2007 NJCAA Outdoor All-American.
Iskakova (Russia) holds the SPC indoor record in the high jump (5 feet, 6 1/2 inches), triple jump (40 feet, 2 3/4 inches) and pentathlon (3,562 points). She also holds the SPC outdoor record in the high jump (5 feet, 6 1/2 inches). She won the 2007 NJCAA National Indoor Championship in the pentathlon and triple jump and was named Female Athlete of the Meet. She placed third in the high jump at the 2007 NJCAA National Outdoor Championships. She was a two-time 2007 NJCAA Indoor All-American and a 2007 NJCAA Outdoor All-American.
Wilson (Jamaica) was part of the 4x400 meter relay team that holds the SPC outdoor record (3:44.69) and the SPC indoor record (3:45.68). She placed second at the 2007 NJCAA National Outdoor Championships in the 4x400 meter relay and was named All-American.
