SPC Track Has Strong Day at Red Raider Open

LUBBOCK – The South Plains College track and field team had another strong showing when they competed at the Red Raider Open at Texas Tech University Saturday.

Fred Samoei placed first in the men's 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:15.76. Darrell Roddick placed first in the men's high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 10 3/4 inches. The SPC women's 4x100 meter relay team of Karen Thomas, Stephanie Simpson, Renee Shepard and Allysha Wilson finished first with a time of 46.06 seconds.

In the women's 10,000 meter run, Lillian Badaru was second (36:13.35) and Crystal Dickinson was fourth (40:00.68). In the women's 4x400 meter relay, the SPC team of Samantha Hallman, Edina Brooks, Karen Thomas and Crystal Wilson placed second (3:49.56). In the women's high jump, Asiya Iskakova was second (5-5) and Marianne Wheeler was third (5-3). In the women's long jump, Karen Thomas was second (18-9), Asiya Iskakova was seventh (17-9.75) and Renee Shepard was eighth (17-8.25).

In the men's 400 meter dash, Renny Quow was second (46.29), Latoy Williams was fourth (47.30), Thaddeus Gordon was eighth (48.40), Damon Douglas was 13th (49.32) and Lester Liburd was 17th (52.12). In the men's 4x100 meter relay, the SPC team of Andre Salmon, Thaddeus Gordon, Rodney Campbell and Bryce Brown placed second (40.44). In the men's hammer throw, Chris Johnson was second (170-05).

In the men's 4x400 meter relay, the SPC team of Bryce Brown, Thaddeus Gordon, Latoy Williams and Renny Quow was second (3:09.92), the team of Rodney Campbell, Stephon Beckford, Damon Douglas and Sean Troop was third (3:18.10) and the team of Chris Jones, Sharif Webb, Chicanel Cole and Michael Hernandez was fifth (3:21.98). In the men's triple jump, Kendrick Poullard was second (47-5.75).

In the women's 100 meter dash, Karen Thomas was third (12.04), Allysha Wilson was fifth (12.07) and Renee Shepard was sixth (12.45). In the women's 400 meter dash, Stephanie Simpson was third (54.08), Crystal Wilson was eighth (57.05) and Edina Brooks was 12th (58.16). In the women's 5,000 meter run, Florence Jepchirchir was third (17:58.36), Gladys Chumba was fourth (18:46.92) and Meagan Willingham was 12th (20:36.44).

In the women's 100 meter hurdles, Samantha Hallman was third (14.81). In the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase, Meagan Willingham was third (12:52.17). In the women's shot put, Shatoya Brown was third (43-0.25), Destiny Collier was fourth (39-7.75) and Melinda Bendik was sixth (38-0.75). In the women's hammer throw, Melinda Bendik was third (143-05).

In the men's 800 meter run, Sharif Webb was third (1:53.37), Chris Jones was sixth (1:57.24), Chicanel Cole was ninth (1:57.68), Chris Salazar was 16th (2:01.62) and Calvin Dascent was 21st (2:04.75). In the men's high jump, Kendrick Poullard was third (6-6.75).

In the women's 400 meter hurdles, Samantha Hallman was fourth (1:05.88) and Brittany Warminski was seventh (1:10.11). In the men's 1,500 meter run, Fred Samoei was fourth (3:50.52) and Michael Hernandez was 16th (4:15.23). In the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase, Mitchell Driver was fourth (10:06.78) and T.K. Revis was 11th (10:57.00).

In the men's 100 meter dash, Bryce Brown was fifth (10.57), Andre Salmon was ninth (10.70), Rodney Campbell was 12th (10.84), Sean Troop was 15th (10.88) and Guistino Fyfield was 26th (11.55).

In the women's 200 meter dash, Allysha Wilson was sixth (25.09). In the men's 400 meter hurdles, Stephon Beckford was sixth (55.20). In the men's pole vault, Lathe Hinch was sixth (14-1.25). In the men's discus throw, Zach Morgan was sixth (140-04).

In the women's discus throw, Melinda Bendik was seventh (135-06) and Shatoya Brown was ninth (121-11). In the men's long jump, Darrell Roddick was seventh (22-5.25), Kendrick Poullard was 10th (21-5.25) and Mike Charles was 12th (21-1.50).

In the men's shot put, Koby Parker was eighth (46-1.25). In the women's 800 meter run, Angelina Williams was 10th (2:17.51). In the men's 5,000 meter run, Mitchell Driver was 10th (16:01.23) and T.K. Revis was 13th (16:30.98).
