SPC Track Starts Indoor Season
The South Plains College track and field team set five school records at Saturday's Texas Tech Indoor Invitational in Lubbock.
Darrell Roddick set a record in the men's triple jump and placed second with a leap of 50 feet, 4 inches. Lillian Badaru set a record in the women's 3000 meter run and placed second with a time of 9:53.60. Stephanie Simpson set a record in the women's 400 meter dash and placed fourth with a time of 56.04 seconds. Shatoya Brown set the women's shot put record and finished sixth with a throw of 44 feet, 11.5 inches. Also, the women's 4x400 meter relay team of Samantha Hallman, Simpson, Edina Brooks and Crystal Wilson set the school record and placed fifth with a time of 3:51.62.
Other members of the SPC team had strong opening performances against a talented field.
In the men's 600 yard run, Chris Jones placed first with a time of 1:10.73. In the men's 55 meter dash, Sean Troop placed third (6.41). In the men's 3000 meter run, Fred Samoei placed third (8:30.67). In the men's high jump, Kendrick Poullard placed third (6-08.25).
In the women's high jump, Asiya Iskakova was fourth (5-02.25) and Marianne Wheeler was sixth (5-02.25). In the women's triple jump, Asiya Iskakova was fourth (39-5). In the men's high jump, Marlon Smith was fifth (6-06.25). In the men's long jump, Marlon Smith was fifth (23-04), Darrell Roddick was ninth (22-03) and Mike Charles was 11th (22-01.75). In the men's triple jump, Kendrick Poullard was fourth (48-02.75).
In the men's 400 meter dash, Bryce Brown was sixth (49.17), Calvin Dascent was ninth (49.29), Rodney Campbell was 13th (49.63), Latoy Williams was 16th (50.54) and Thaddeus Gordon was 17th (50.70). In the men's 600 yard run, Renny Quow was sixth (1:13.77), Damon Douglas was seventh (1:16.09), Sharif Webb was eighth (1:16.10), Stephon Beckford was ninth (1:16.55) and Malcolm Anderson was 13th (1:25.60).
In the women's 55 meter dash, Karen Thomas was seventh (7.30) and Allysha Wilson was ninth (7.31). In the men's 1 mile run, Fred Samoei was seventh (4:17.43), Mitchell Driver was 11th (4:28.80), T.K. Revis was 14th (4:42.60) and Jorge Castillo was 18th (4:57.39).
In the women's 400 meter dash, Crystal Wilson was eighth (58.70), Samantha Hallman was ninth (58.77) and Edina Brooks was 10th (59.09). In the women's shot put, Destiny Collier finished ninth (37-8). In the men's shot put, Koby Parker was eighth (44-11.75) and Zach Morgan was 12th (40-03.50).
In the women's 1 mile run, Florence Jepchirchir was ninth (5:34.10), Crystal Dickinson was 10th (5:36.74), Gladys Chumba was 12th (5:43.25) and Meagan Willingham was 13th (5:52.42). In the women's 4x400 meter relay, the team of Karen Thomas, Allysha Wilson, Samantha Hallman and Jasmine Rollins placed ninth (4:08.70).
In the men's 3000 meter run, Javier Perez was ninth (9:14.38), Mike Rodriguez was 13th (9:26.48), T.K. Revis was 17th (9:37.56), Chris Salazar was 18th (9:39.44) and Jorge Castillo was 23rd (9:59.42). In the men's 800 meter run, Chris Martinez was 10th (2:02.02) and Chicanel Cole was 15th (2:04.40).
In the women's 200 meter dash, Brooke Randle was 20th (27.96). In the women's 3000 meter run, Melinda Burrola was 25th (12:20.00) and Jessica Kirchner was 26th (12:21.01).
