SPC Track Competes at Texas State Open
SAN MARCOS – The South Plains College track and field team opened their outdoor season with a strong performance at the Texas State University Open in San Marcos Friday.
South Plains had 15 first-place finishes while competing against several four-year schools.
SPC's men's 4x100 meter relay team took first place with a time of 41.01 seconds. SPC women's 4x100 meter relay team also took first place with a time of 46.69 seconds. The SPC women's 4x400 meter relay team also won their event in a time of 3:51.46.
In the women's 3000 meter run, Lillian Badaru placed first with a time of 10:08.19. In the women's triple jump, Asiya Iskakova was first with a leap of 39 feet, 11.25 inches. In the women's shot put, Shatoya Brown placed first with a throw of 46 feet, 4.25 inches. In the men's 1500 meter run, Fred Samoei finished first with a time of 3:51.78.
In the men's high jump, Darrell Roddick and Kendrick Poullard tied for first with a jump of 6 feet, 8 inches. In the men's triple jump, Thaddeus Gordon was first with a jump of 49 feet, 7.75 inches.
In the men's 110 meter hurdles, Malcolm Anderson placed first with a time of 14.67 seconds. In the women's 100 meter dash, Stephanie Simpson finished first with a time of 11.96 seconds. In the men's 400 meter dash, Renny Quow placed first with a time of 48.25 seconds. In the men's 800 meter run, Fred Samoei placed first with a time of 1:51.70, while Angelina Williams won the women's 800 mter run with a time of 2:15.51. In the men's 400 meter hurdles, Bryce Brown placed first with a time of 52.46.
In the women's 100 meter dash, Allysha Wilson was second (12.17) and Karen Thomas was fourth (12.44). In the men's 400 meter dash, Thaddeus Gordon was second (49.05), Damon Douglas was ninth (51.53) and Lester Liburd was 10th (51.98). In the women's 400 meter dash, Edina Brooks finished second (58.68).
The SPC men's 4x400 meter relay team finished second (3:20.84). In the men's 800 meter run, Shariff Webb was second (1:53.64), Chris Jones was third (1:54.09), Adrian Nevarez was sixth (2:00.58), Michael Hernandez was 10th (2:01.69), Chris Martinez was 12th (2:03.41) and Chicanel Cole was 14th (2:04.81). In the men's hammer throw, Chris Johnson placed second (171-03).
In the women's 400 meter hurdles, Samantha Hallman placed second (1:04.03), Jasmine Rollins was 10th (1:09.63), Brooke Randle (1:10.00) and Brittany Warminski was 15th (1:13.39). In the women's high jump, Asiya Iskakova was second (5-5.75), Marianne Wheeler was third (5-3.25) and Brittany Warminski was 16th (4-5). In the men's triple jump, Kendrick Poullard was second (48-4.75) and Darrell Roddick was third (47-9).
In the men's 100 meter dash, Rodney Campbell was third (10.90), Andre Salmon was ninth (11.28), Giustino Fyfield was 15th (11.59) and Sean Troop was 18th (11.88). In the men's steeplechase, Mitchell Driver placed third (9:50.19). In the men's shot put, Koby Parker was third (46-2) and Zach Morgan was seventh (40-4.25).
In the women's 100 meter hurdles, Samantha Hallman was fourth (14.82), Jasmine Rollins was 12th (16.74), Brittany Warminski was 15th (18.41) and Brooke Randle was 16th (18.88). In the women's 1500 meter run, Florence Jepchirchir was fourth (5:01.71) and Meagan Willingham was eighth (5:05.53). In the women's hammer throw, Melinda Mendik was fourth (131-11).
In the women's 3000 meter run, Crystal Dickinson was fifth (10:44.98), Meagan Willingham was ninth (11:30.68), Melinda Burrola was 10th (11:39.81) and Jessica Kirchner was 14th (12:27.37). In the men's 400 meter hurdles, Malcolm Anderson was sixth (1:00.92). In the women's shot put, Melinda Bendik was fifth (35-7.75) and Destiny Collier was seventh (33-5.25). In the men's discus throw, Zach Morgan was sixth (149-02).
In the men's pole vault, Lathe Hinch placed seventh (14-1.25). In the men's 1500 meter run, Michael Hernandez was seventh (4:10.93), Chris Martinez was eighth (4:14.25) and T.K. Revis was 14th (4:27.95). In the men's 3000 meter run, Javier Perez was seventh (9:17.70), T.K. Revis was ninth (9:24.69) and Mike Rodriguez was 10th (9:29.48). In the women's 800 meter run, Gladys Chumba was 15th (2:34.37). In the women's long jump, Brooke Randle was 15th (14-7.25).
