SPC Runs at UTEP Invitational
EL PASO – The South Plains College track and field team had a strong showing at the UTEP Springtime Invitational Saturday at Kidd Field in El Paso. The Texans and Lady Texans were competing against four-year schools including Texas-El Paso, Texas Tech, South Florida, New Mexico, New Mexico State and Sam Houston State.
Asiya Iskakova took first place in the women's triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 9 1/4 inches and Darrell Roddick won first place in the men's triple jump with a leap of 52 feet, 10 3/4 inches.
In the women's 100 meter dash, Stephanie Simpson placed second (11.65), Karen Thomas was eighth (12.00) and Renee Shepard was 17th (13.18). In the women's 200 meter dash, Stephanie Simpson was second (24.03), Karen Thomas was seventh (24.48) and Edina Brooks was 16th (26.11).
In the women's 400 meter hurdles, Samantha Hallman placed second (61.93), Jasmine Rollins was 10th (68.79), Brittany Warminski was 14th (71.34) and Brooke Randle was 15th (72.19). In the men's triple jump, Thaddeus Gordon was second (51-2.75) and Kendrick Poullard was third (51-0.25).
In the men's 200 meter dash, Renny Quow placed third (21.27), Thaddeus Gordon was seventh (21.67), Rodney Campbell was 11th (21.87), Giustino Fyfield was 17th (22.94) and Lester Liburd was 21st (23.73). In the men's 400 meter dash, Latoy Williams was third (47.17), Sharif Webb was 10th (48.66) and Chicanel Cole was 17th (53.01). In the men's shot put, Koby Parker was third (46-6).
In the men's 110 meter hurdles, Bryce Brown placed fourth (14.34). In the men's high jump, Kendrick Poullard and Marlon Smith tied for fourth (6-8.75).
In the men's 1500 meter run, Javier Perez was fifth (4:19.23), T.K. Revis was sixth (4:23.41) and Chris Salazar was seventh (4:30.73). In the men's hammer throw, Chris Johnson was fifth (170-1).
In the women's 1500 meter run, Crystal Dickinson placed sixth (5:17.62). In the women's shot put, Melinda Bendik was sixth (38-6.75) and Destiny Collier was seventh (37-9.25).
In the men's 100 meter dash, Rodney Campbell was sixth (10.56), Andre Salmon was 10th (10.85), Damon Douglas was 17th (11.04), Giustino Fyfield was 21st (11.51) and Lester Liburd was 23rd (11.63). In the men's 3000 meter run, Javier Perez was sixth (9:35.74), Jorge Castillo was 10th (9:52.53) and Mike Rodriguez was 12th (10:10.41). In the men's long jump, Marlon Smith was sixth (24-1), Darrell Roddick was seventh (24-0.75) and Mike Charles was 14th (20-6.5).
In the women's triple jump, Karen Thomas was seventh (37-2.5). In the men's 800 meter run, Chris Martinez was seventh (1:59.97) and Mike Hernandez was eighth (2:01.99). In the men's discus throw, Zach Morgan was seventh (143-1) and Chris Johnson was ninth (133-2).
In the women's high jump, Marianne Wheeler was eighth (5-3). In the women's long jump, Karen Thomas was eighth (17-11), Asiya Iskakova was 14th (17-1.25) and Renee Shepard was 17th (16-7).
In the women's 100 meter dash, Samantha Hallman was ninth (14.98), Jasmine Rollins was 13th (17.33) and Brooke Randle was 14th (17.83). In the women's discus throw, Melinda Bendik was ninth (132-01). In the women's hammer throw, Melinda Bendik was ninth (145-05).
In the women's 400 meter dash, Angelina Williams was 11th (59.96). In the women's 3000 meter run, Crystal Dickinson was 14th (11:50.01).
