SPC Women Down Clarendon
CLARENDON – Thirteen was a lucky number for the ninth-ranked South Plains College Lady Texans Thursday. The Lady Texans won their 13th straight game as they defeated the Clarendon College Lady Bulldogs 93-57 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play in Clarendon.
South Plains (15-2 overall, 4-0 conference) dominated from the opening tip, shooting 52 percent in the first half and building a double-digit lead in the first six minutes. The Lady Texans led 50-17 at halftime.
The dominance continued in the second half. SPC outrebounded Clarendon 56-39.
Five SPC players scored in double figures. Brittany Blackmon had 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Mariame Djouara added 17 points. Also for SPC, Krystal Davis had 14 points, Rachel Gray and Haruka Nagado both added 11, McKinsie East scored 8, Chasity Workman had 7 points and 10 rebounds, Ashley Frazier scored 6 and Lindsey Lawless added 2.
The Lady Texans will be back on the road Monday when they play at Odessa College, the defending NJCAA National Champions.
