Lady Texan Win Streak Ends
MIDLAND – They say that all good things must come to an end. On Monday, the No. 6 ranked South Plains College Lady Texans' 17-game winning streak came to an abrupt end in a 70-52 loss to No. 10 Midland College.
The Lady Texans (19-3 overall, 8-1 conference) had not lost since Nov. 9, but their inability to connect from beyond the 3-point arc and Midland's hot shooting led to their first conference loss. South Plains was 0 of 12 on 3-pointers, while Midland hit 9 shots beyond the 3-point arc. Lady Chap guard Jessica Wallis was 5 of 5 on 3-pointers and finished with 19 points.
The game went back and forth early before Midland took control midway through the first half. the Lady Chaps led 42-31 at halftime and SPC never got closer than that the rest of the way.
For South Plains, Brittany Blackmon led the way with 21 points, while Chasity Workman added 12, Mariame Djouara had 6, Rachel Gray scored 5, and Ashley Frazier and Krystal Davis both added 4.
