Lady Texans Run Past WTC 68-51
SNYDER – The South Plains College Lady Texans got back on the winning track with a 68-51 win over Western Texas College Thursday in Snyder.
The win improved SPC's record to 20-3 overall and 9-1 in conference play. They have a one-game lead over Midland with four games to play.
The Lady Texans only trailed once, and that was at 2-0. They opened up a double-digit lead by halftime (33-23) and outscored the Westerners 35-28 in the second half. SPC shot 52 percent from the field for the game.
Mariame Djouara scored 22 points to lead SPC, while Ashley Frazier added 13, Brittany Blackmon had 12, Chasity Workman scored 12 points and had 11 rebounds, Rachel Gray scored 4, McKinsie East added 3 and Krystal Davis added 2.
For Western Texas, Trikeyia East led the way with 16 points.
The Lady Texans will be back at home Monday when they host Clarendon College. It will be Think Pink Night as SPC teams up with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association to promote breast cancer awareness.
