SPC Women Roll Past No. 8 Central Arizona

LEVELLAND — Dominic Seals scored 24 points to lead No. 15 South Plains College past No. 8 Central Arizona College 77-60 Friday night at the Breakfast Rotary Tournament in Levelland.

SPC (2-0) shook off a slow start to take a double-digit lead in the first half. The Lady Texans used a 10-0 run late in the first half to go up 31-17. Central Arizona was able to close within nine (34-25) at halftime.

The Vaqueros (1-1) got even closer in the second half. A three-pointer by Heather Oliver pulled them within two (44-42) with 12:22 remaining in the game. But Seals made three straight baskets and A.J. Adams hit back-to-back 3-pointers to help SPC increase their lead to 65-48.

Ashlee Roberson finished with 11 points for the Lady Texans, while Alana Rumph added 10, Ashley Frazier and Mariame Djouara each scored 9, Adams had 8, Ashely Malone added 5 and Brittany Blackmon scored 1.

For Central Arizona, Heather Oliver led the way with 15 points.

The Lady Texans will wrap up the tournament Saturday by facing Northern Oklahoma College at 3:30 p.m., at the Texan Dome.
