SPC Hammers Clarendon 82-42

LEVELLAND – The No. 4 ranked South Plains College Lady Texans moved into the championship of the WJCAC Pre-Conference Tournament with an 82-42 thumping of Clarendon College Friday night at the Texan Dome in Levelland.

South Plains (10-0) will take on No. 1 Odessa College Saturday at 7 p.m. in the finals. Odessa defeated Midland 79-50 in the other semifinal Friday.

Against Clarendon, SPC scored the first nine points of the ballgame and never trailed. The Lady Texans shot 68 percent from the field in the first half and went on a 24-0 run in the final 8:26 of the half to take a 51-14 lead into halftime.

South Plains' shooting percentage went down in the second half, but their lead grew to 49 (67-18) with 13:35 remaining in the game. All 12 Lady Texan players saw action and 11 of them scored.

Brittany Blackmon led the way for SPC with 18 points, Dominic Seals added 14 points and 10 rebounds, Ashlee Roberson finished with 12 points, Mariame Djoura scored 9, Alana Rumph had 8, Ashley Frazier added 7, A.J. Adams had 5, Ashely Malone scored 4, Erica Knight and Aminata Barry each had 2, and Courtney Miller added 1.

For Clarendon, Kaylan Talley was the only player in double figures with 10 points.
