Lady Texans Down Colby 79-45
COLBY, Kan. — After winning three-straight games at home, the South Plains College Lady Texans showed they can win on the road too as they defeated Colby College 79-45 Thursday on the opening night of the Ambassador Classic in Colby, Kansas.
The Lady Texans (4-0) shot 55 percent from the field and forced Colby into 34 turnovers. SPC raced out to a 41-23 halftime lead and never looked back.
The "young guns" provided a real spark for the Lady Texans. Freshmen scored 60 of SPC's 79 points. Freshman Ashlee Roberson led South Plains with 19 points and 8 rebounds in her first collegiate start. Fellow freshman Ashely Malone came off the bench to score 14 points and pull down 6 rebounds.
Dominic Seals added 11 points, Brittany Blackmon added 9, Alana Rumph had 8, Ashley Frazier scored 7, Mariam Djouara added 5 and Krystal Davis had 2.
