Lady Texans Defeat Frank Phillips 66-47
LEVELLAND – The No. 4 ranked South Plains College Lady Texans used a 14-1 run late in the game to defeat the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen 66-47 in the quarterfinals of the WJCAC Pre-Conference Tournament Thursday at the Texan Dome in Levelland.
South Plains (9-0) only led 44-43 with 8:57 left in the game before taking control by holding the Plainsmen without a point for more than five minutes. In fact, Frank Phillips didn't score a field goal for more than nine minutes. Their only points came from the free throw line.
The Lady Texans built a 10-point lead less than eight minutes into the game and led by as many as 15 in the first half. They were up 34-22 at halftime. Seals finished with 17 points to pace South Plains College, while Frazier and Mariame Djouara each added 11, Blackmon had 8, Ashlee Roberson and Alana Rumph both scored 6, Ashely Malone added 5, and A.J. Adams had 2.
