Top Ranked South Plains Downs Frank Phillips 100-63
BORGER – Six players scored in double figures as the No. 1 ranked South Plains College Lady Texans easily defeated Frank Phillips College 100-63 Thursday in Borger.
Four SPC players were already in double figures by halftime as the Lady Texans had a 52-29 lead. South Plains never trailed in the game and used a 12-0 run to push their lead to 23-10 early in the first half. The Lady Plainsmen came back to get within five (27-22) with 10:11 left in the first half, but SPC then went on a 15-0 run that included three-straight buckets by Mariame Djouara to go ahead 42-22.
The Lady Texans' dominance continued in the second half. Their defense held Frank Phillips without a field goal for more than 7 minutes as the SPC lead grew to 36. Down the stretch, Ashely Malone, A.J. Adams and Alana Rumph all hit shots as the Lady Texans went up by 42 and hit the century mark with 1:20 left in the game.
Dominic Seals led SPC with 17 points, while Djouara added 16, Ashlee Roberson scored 15, Malone had 14, and Brittany Blackmon and Adams each pitched in 12. Also for SPC, Rumph scored 8 and Ashley Frazier added 6.
For Frank Phillips, Katiya Jackson scored 10 points.
South Plains is now 24-0 overall and 8-0 in WJCAC play.
