Lady Texans Hold Off Howard

BIG SPRING – Good teams find ways to win even when they are not playing at
their best. That was proven true Thursday as the No. 1 ranked South Plains
College Lady Texans had to hold off Howard College for a 50-46 win in Big
Spring.

The Lady Texans are now 22-0 overall and 6-0 in WJCAC play.

South Plains led throughout most of the game and were up by 9 (44-35) with
6:04 remaining, but Howard battled back to get within 2 with just over a
minute remaining. But Ashlee Roberson and Mariame Djouara each hit field
goals in the final minute to push SPC to the win.

The Lady Texans won despite their two leading scorers being held to single
digits in points scored. Dominic Seals was held to 9 points and Roberson had
4. But Brittany Blackmon and Djouara each scored 12 points and Alana Rumph
added 9 to help SPC to the win. Krystal Davis and Ashely Malone each added 2
points for the Lady Texans.

For Howard, Candace Lambert led the way with 12 points.
