SPC Lady Texans Roll Over LCU JV 101-38
LEVELLAND – Five players scored in double figures as the South Plains College Lady Texans defeated the Lubbock Christian University JV Chaps 101-38 Monday at the Texan Dome.
With most of the SPC starters seeing less than 12 minutes of game action, it was a night for the reserves to shine. Of the five players that scored in double figures, only one (Brittany Blackmon) was a starter.
The Lady Texans (12-0) raced out to a 14-0 lead thanks to a pair of baskets from Blackmon and Dominic Seals and 3-pointers from Ashlee Roberson and Ashley Frazier. After that, LCU never got closer than 9 the rest of the game.
Alana Rumph scored 7 straight points midway through the first half and Courtney Miller added 3 as the Lady Texans went on a 16-0 run to pull ahead 46-11. Krystal Davis and A.J. Adams added field goals as the lead grew to 53-16 at halftime.
The SPC starters played the first five minutes of the second half. Seals, Blackmon, Frazier and Mariame Djouara all made field goals and Roberson added another 3-pointer to push the lead to 49 (67-18). South Plains held LCU scoreless for more than 7 minutes and went on an 18-0 run to increase their advantage to 76-18. Ashely Malone, Erica Knight and Aminata Barry added points down the stretch as the Lady Texans won by 63. All 12 SPC players scored in the game.
Adams led the Texans with 14 points, while Miller, Davis and Rumph each added 12 and Blackmon scored 10. Also for SPC, Roberson had 8, Seals, Barry and Frazier each scored 7, Djouara had 5, Malone added 4 and Knight scored 3.
For LCU, Kelsey Brown and Kim Vining each had 10 points.
