No. 1 Lady Texans Whip NMJC 92-62
LEVELLAND – Brittany Blackmon scored 18 first-half points and the South Plains College Lady Texans cruised to a 92-62 win over the New Mexico Junior College Lady Thunderbirds Monday at the Texan Dome.
South Plains is now 23-0 for the season and 7-0 in WJCAC play.
Blackmon scored 11 points in the first seven minutes of the first half and helped the Lady Texans to a quick 23-8 lead. South Plains used an 8-0 run and another 9-0 to go up 54-21 at halftime.
The Lady Texans continued to pour it on in the second half. Another 9-0 put SPC ahead by 44 (73-29) with 11:13 left in the game. They led by as many as 46 and ended up winning by 30.
Blackmon led SPC with 22 points, while Ashlee Roberson and Mariame Djouara each added 16 and Krystal Davis scored 11. Also for SPC, Alana Rumph added 8, A.J. Adams and Ashely Malone each scored 6, Dominic Seals had 3, and Ashley Frazier and Courtney Miller both added 2.
Brittany Imig led NMJC with 19 points.
