SPC Women Defeat Temple

TEMPLE – The No. 3 ranked South Plains College Lady Texans ran their winning streak to 13 with a 51-42 win over the Temple College Lady Leopards Saturday afternoon in Temple.

SPC (13-0) held Temple to just 30 percent shooting from the field. The Lady Texans also forced the Lady Leopards into 28 turnovers.

South Plains led 23-19 at halftime, but Temple was able to come back to tie things up early in the second half. The Lady Texans began to take control with about 8 minutes remaining in the game and eventually built a double-digit lead before winning by nine.

Dominic Seals had 24 points and 9 rebounds to lead SPC, while Brittany Blackmon added 10 points, Alana Rumph had 7, Ashley Frazier scored 4, Ashlee Roberson had 2 points and 11 rebounds, and Mariame Djouara and Ashely Malone each added 2 points.

The Lady Texans will take three weeks off before returning to action Jan. 2 when they travel to Arizona for a three-game roadtrip.
