Lady Texans Have No Trouble With Western Texas

SNYDER – All five starters scored in double figures as the South Plains College Lady Texans defeated the Western Texas College Lady Westerners 82-60 Thursday in a WJCAC contest in Snyder.

South Plains, the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, improved to 19-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Western Texas is now 12-5 overall and 0-1 in conference.

SPC scored 48 points in the first half and shot 60 percent from the field before haltime. Dominic Seals scored 15 first half points and Brittany Blackmon added 10.

The Lady Texans went more than 4 minutes without a point in the second half, but still managed to pull away for the 22-point win.

Ashlee Roberson led SPC with 19 points, while Seals added 18, Ashley Frazier scored 14, and Mariame Djouara and Blackmon both added 10. Also for SPC, A.J. Adams scored 8 and Ashely Malone added 3.

For Western Texas, Tracee Ashley-Holden had 19 points and Pasha Cornish added 13.

The Lady Texans will host Clarendon on Monday.
