Lady Texans Set School Record Against WTC

LEVELLAND – The No. 1 ranked South Plains College Lady Texans set a new school record for consecutive wins by defeating the Western Texas College Lady Westerners 61-40 Monday night at the Texan Dome.

The win was the 26th in a row for the Lady Texans, who remained perfect in WJCAC play at 10-0.

Western Texas jumped out to an early 12-8 lead with 12:42 remaining in the first half, but they only scored one basket the rest of the half. They went the final 10 minutes of the half without a point as South Plains built a 33-14 halftime lead.

SPC (26-0) continued to build their lead in the second half despite shooting just 33 percent.

Ashlee Roberson led SPC with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Brittany Blackmon added 10 points, Dominic Seals scored 9, Mariame Djouara had 7, Alana Rumph added 5, Ashley Frazier and Ashely Malone each added 4, and A.J. Adams and Erica Knight both scored 2.

For Western Texas, Marah Guzman led the way with 8 points.

South Plains will be on the road Thursday to take on Clarendon College.
