| The Gila Wilderness Area became the world's first designated Wilderness area in
1924, and is the largest Wilderness area in the south west encompassing 558,014
acres of the 3.3 million acre Gila National Forrest in west central New Mexico.
Here you will find high mesas, rolling hills, deep canyons, high mountains and sheer cliffs
along the Gila River. The Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, is in the heart of
this area. |
