C. SCANS and Foundation Skills
The Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS) was appointed by the Secretary of Labor to determine the skills that are needed to succeed in the world business. Eleven skill areas were identified. Three of these are identified as foundation skills involving reading, writing and mathematics. The other eight areas refer to workplace skills, such as working with clients and co-workers. SCANS and Foundation Skills covered in this course: C1, C3, C5, C6, C7, C8, C9, C10, C14, C15, C16, C17, C18, C19, C20, F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, F9, F10, F12, F13, F14, F15, F16, F17.
