VPT offers two Associates of Applied Science and one Certificate of Proficiency.

Video Production Technology's Associate of Applied Science (see curriculum)

The degree plan is designed to provide individuals with preparation and experience for entry-level positions in video production technology. Students will receive hands-on training in television and audio production, graphics, lighting, editing and stagecraft, including:

  1. Learn to operate equipment and implement techniques currently used in the video production and editing industry, using various video formats

  2. Participate as a member of the video crew, setting up and running cameras, as well as control room equipment during lectures, live concerts, and televised performances
  3. Participate as a member of the lighting crew, designing the light shows, setting up the light fixtures, programming the lighting-board and operating the board during lectures, live concerts, and televised performances
  4. Study the theory, history, and literature of video production technology
  5. Learn current trends and positions available in video production technology
  6. Participate as a member of the video or lighting crew in producing full-length televised music festivals

Video Production Technology - Music Option's Associate of Applied Science (see curriculum)

Students in Music Option will be trained in the skills shown above, as well as receiving additional training for developing on-stage performance skills in the commercial music industry.

Video Production Technology's Certificate of Proficiency (see curriculum)

This certificate option provides students with the basic skills needed for employment in the video production field. It is designed for a technical certificate only. This option does not provide as extensive training in lighting, audio for video, electronics or photography and it does not include core curriculum courses, such as English, Math and other "basics."
