Equipment and Facilities

Students enrolled in Video Production Technology work with the same state-of-the-art equipment used by professionals in the field. The studio features advanced video equipment including DVcam and DVD recording equipment, Grass Valley switcher and graphics, Sony digital DXC-D30 and DSR-370 professional studio cameras and a 20-foot boom camera. An AVID video-editing lab is part of the post-production suite.

A computer lab is available for computer graphics training. The program's DMX lighting system is designed to meet the critical demands of video recording and concert performance. Intellabeams, trackspots, a hazer, a Hog light board provide up-to-date training in articulated lighting concepts. The audio system is totally digital and features two Mackie D8B mixing consoles with a Mackie HDR 24/96 digital hard disk recorder. A Mac Motu G4 digital audio workstation, microphones and sound reinforcement and monitoring equipment are also accessible.

The cornerstone of the program is the Tom T. Hall Production Studio - a 3,600 square foot production center featuring the latest in audio video and lighting equipment. The versatile studio serves as a large sound stage and accommodates performances with live audiences of up to 300 people. Adjoining the production studio is the Redd Stewart Television Studio that is used by students as a project laboratory. Audio and video control rooms complete the production studio complex in the Creative Arts Building.
