In 2002, a SKILLS-USA chapter was organized at South Plains College. It was the first to be on the campus. At the time of founding, the chapter consisted of Automotive and Diesel technology students.
The first ever SKILLS-USA (VICA) team at South Plains College went to state competition in Beaumont, Texas. That excursion netted 14 medals for the team. To see the team and results, go to this link: 2002 Team. We are very proud of the reults and the team that did it!
For the year 2003, several other departments joined the chapter. New to the team this year are Welding, HVAC, and Collision Repair.
