Mike Shapiro,
KDUB-TV's Commercial Manager, came to Lubbock from WFAA-TV in Dallas. He is
well known in Southwestern advertising circles, and previously was manager
of KTXL in San Angelo and of KECK in Odessa.
Shapiro hails originally from Minnesota, and
attended the University of Minnesota. He moved to Texas during the war and
was in the first class of glider pilots at the South Plains Army Air Field.
He came to Lubbock first after two years of
service in the European theater. He married Connie King of Lamesa, a former
Texas Tech student, and they have a six year old daughter, Lynne Carole.
Returning to Lubbock from Dallas, Shapiro
takes over all the local, regional and national sales for Lubbock's first
television station. His background in television includes sales to retail
advertisers in Dallas, and sales and services of advertising agencies. He
has also had advertising agency experience on the account level.
A member of the Lubbock Ad Club, Shapiro took
and active part in civic affairs prior to moving to Lubbock this last time.
He plans to enter into Lubbock civic work as soon as possible.
