KDUB
Tower Now Tallest StructureLubbock Sunday Sun - April 5, 1953 At last, Lubbock has a skyscraper! Yes, the KDUB-TV tower is the tallest structure in the Southwest. The 852 foot structure is designed to afford Lubbock's first television station a coverage of at least 75 mile radius. Just to give you an idea how tall it really is, the 852 foot tower is equivalent to the height of a 78 story building . . . taller than New York City's Woolworth Building. So here's another first for Lubbock. The first real skyscraper in West Texas.
- Photo from the Dub Rogers Collection is of the KDUB-TV tower specially illuminated for the 5th anniversary in 1957. |
