Conducts college courses for undergraduate students by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned and/or included in the Faculty Handbook.
Teaches mathematics within prescribed curriculum.
Prepares and delivers lectures to students.
Compiles bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
Stimulates class discussions.
Compiles, administers, and grades examinations.
Performs related duties such as advising students on academic and vocational curricula, and acting as adviser to student organizations.
Serves on faculty committees.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Faculty members who teach in mathematics must hold a master’s degree and have a minimum of 18 graduate hours of mathematics.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to work in a highly technical environment. Computer competency is critical.
Skill and desire to work with students of low math performing abilities to working with students in advanced topics. Flexibility in teaching schedule is critical.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
