The Marjorie Merriweather Post Collection of paintings is on permanent display in the Fine Arts Building and in the foyer of the Library on the Levelland campus. Comprising works from the 17th through the early 20th century, the collection was donated by Mrs. Post to South Plains College in 1966. A second donation in 1968 expanded the collection. The paintings provide a valuable resource for students at SPC and figure prominently in the cultural life of the surrounding area.

All of the paintings shown below are from that part of the Post Collection housed in the Fine Arts Building.

Marjorie Post (1887-1973) was the daughter of cereal magnate C.W. Post, on whose land the town of Levelland was founded in 1912. Mrs. Post inherited her father's fortune and control of his business, the Postum Cereal Company, in 1914. An astute businesswoman and entrepreneur, Mrs. Post was also an avid collector of both the fine and decorative arts, and a noted philanthropist and socialite. Her philanthropy was especially generous toward the interests of higher education. In addition to contributing a portion of her art collection to South Plains College, Mrs. Post donated the land on which the College was established in 1957.
