Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

SUMMARY

Primary – Assist with the direction of the intercollegiate women's basketball program.

Secondary – Operational responsibilities for the departmental bookstore.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Athletic Director or Women’s Basketball Coach.

Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

1. Overall Program

2. Recruiting

3. Supervising student athletes

4. Assist in equipment purchasing, care and inventory

5. Assist in budget preparation and control

6. Assist in scheduling of games and officials

7. Aid in placement of athletes into four-year Universities

8. Aid school authorities with discipline and control

9. Follow policies of South Plains College

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor's degree (B.A.), in an appropriate field, from four-year college or university. Master's Degree preferred.

2. Sound background and knowledge of basketball as well as instructional field

3. Familiarity with recruiting, budget preparation, scheduling and other responsibilities

4. Proven success in competitive coaching

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
