Residence Hall Director


Provides daily management and operations of one or more Residence Halls. May provide housing management and supervision for summer camps and conferences. Coordinates a variety of activities and programs for residential living and student engagement by performing the following duties. This is a 9 - 12 month live in position.


Levelland Campus

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Selects, trains, supervises and evaluates Wing Advisors (WA) and Head Resident Assistants (HRA).

Participates in the Hall Director On Call Duty Rotation.

Works five days a week on a set schedule from 5:15pm-12:15am.

Assigns rooms, plans and participates in residential programming and recreational activities.

Supervises summer camps and conferences residential component if necessary.

Counsels residents in identifying and resolving social or other problems.

Compiles records of daily activities of residents.

Acts as on campus resources for students.

Answers telephone and sorts and distributes mail.

Reports maintenance needs and safety and security issues to Student Housing Office and/or other appropriate offices.

Records and reports appropriate student discipline, conflicts and other issues.


Directly supervises three or more WAs and may supervise one or more HRAs. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training WAs and HRAs; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining WAs and HRAs; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Associates Degree or equivalent college experience preferred.


One year of related experience and/or training preferred


Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence and instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


Ability to utilize or learn computer equipment and programming including, but not limited to: Microsoft - word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook. Must also be willing to learn and utilize current social media tools.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee must be able to walk up and down stairs and across campus in 10 minutes. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
