Purpose of Course:
This course is designed for those students who need an introduction to basic math concepts. It includes the understanding and use of whole numbers, common and decimal fractions, percentages, measurements, and short methods for calculations. This course is for Associate Degree Nursing and Diploma Program Nursing students and is required if testing indicates a need.
Textbook:
Fundamentals of Arithmetic for Nurses by SPC.
Attendance:
Attendance and effort are the most important activities for success in this course. Records of your attendance will be maintained. Whenever absences become excessive and, in the instructor’s opinion, minimum course objectives cannot be met, the instructor may administratively withdraw you from the course with a grade of X or F. If you are in this course to fulfill TSI requirements, then dropping or being dropped from this course will cause your removal from all courses at SPC. Refer to the General Catalog under Class Attendance and Drops & Withdrawals.

Lab, Room M-116, or building 2 at the Reese campus. You may check out
the tapes for use at home or you may duplicate them with the equipment available
in M-116. You must furnish the blank tape.
