LEVELLAND – South Plains College will select the winner of the 2018 Jerry Barton Service Achievement Award during the annual Service Club Luncheon set for noon on Wednesday (April 11) in the Sundown Room of the Student Center.

Each year, the local Levelland service clubs nominate an outstanding member for the Jerry Barton Service Achievement Award. This outstanding member has gone above and beyond in his volunteer efforts through service to the club and the community.

The 2018 Jerry Barton Service Achievement Award nominees are Tushar Bhakta by the Noon Lions Club, Soyla Hernandez by the Marigolds and Sham L. Myatt by the Levelland Noon Rotary.

“Volunteers always have made the Levelland community a better place to live for all of us,” said Dane Dewbre, associate dean of Marketing and Recruitment at South Plains College.

This year marks the 17th anniversary of the Jerry Barton Service Achievement Award program which honors and recognizes a community member for his contributions to the City of Levelland, Dewbre said.
