Instructional Technology Equipment Usage Policies

(Effective 9/06)

South Plains College, through the department of Instructional Technology, provides instructional equipment for checkout to faculty at SPC. The inventory of equipment is limited.  It is very important that equipment be returned on time and in the same condition as borrowed.  In order to maintain this equipment and be able to meet the needs of all faculty, the following policies are followed:

  1. Faculty have priority for all Title III equipment.  Others may be allowed to check out equipment at the discretion of the Associate Dean of Distance Education and Instructional Support.

  2. Borrower should reserve equipment 24 hours in advance.  Failure to do so may result in denial of the request.

  3. Borrower may check out equipment for a period of one (1) week or less; the checkout period may be renewed if there is no existing reservations for the items in question.  Once checked out, it is the borrower’s responsibility to renew the checkout and keep it current.  Failure to do so may result in denial of future equipment.  Reminders will be sent out to those individuals who do not return equipment in a timely manner.

  4. Said equipment may be used for SPC-related purposes only.

  5. Under no circumstances should equipment or software be altered by any Borrower.  If equipment is altered, Borrower may lose check out privileges.

  6. Borrower needing equipment to prepare for SPC classes will have priority over those wanting equipment for use while out of town.

  7. Borrower is responsible for picking up and returning given equipment.

  8. Borrower is responsible for removing all personal files from laptop before returning it.  Any personal files left on laptop will be removed by the department of Instructional Technology upon check in.

  9. Borrower is responsible for the security of equipment checked out. Borrower/ department may be charged for replacement or repairs required to equipment due to negligence.
