Mitchell moves to become dean at Reese

 There have been many changes for everyone since the fall semester began, new surroundings, new classes and new friends. But for Cathy Mitchell, it has been a whole new experience and a big change in her life.

The Smallwood Apartments were built in 1981, and they had not had any re-modeling work done in 28 years. However, during the summer, the apartments had a little makeover.

Banks releases new guitar tribute CD

Enchanting guitar melodies with beautiful and intricate harmonizations can be heard when listening to Cary C. Banks’ new album.

Banks, chairperson of the Creative Arts Department, has released his CD titled “Guitar Out in the Rain”, a guitar instrumental of Jimmy Webb songs.

Berset awarded for Tech Prep work

Awarded for awarding others, Jill Berset recently was honored for her service to Career and Technical Education at the Career and Technology Association of Texas conference last month.

Berset has worked with tech prep at SPC for more than 13 years and is the executive director of Tech Prep.

Club reps to raise money for charity

Each year, the Office of Student Activities at South Plains College puts on a contest to raise money for the Hockley County Family Services.   It’s called, “Beauty and the Beast,” and it runs throughout the entire month of October.

SPC celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Each year in mid-September, Mexicans celebrate their independence from Spain on the holiday “16 de Septiembre.”

Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Honduras celebrate their independence anniversaries on Sept. 15, and Chile celebrates on Sept. 18.

 

iTouch helpful tool for nursing students
