LETTERS TO EDITOR

'Writing' a few wrongs ...

I am writing this letter in response to the article published in the  March 7, 2005 issue of the Plainsmen Press written by Giovanni Rosendo, “Shouting Out For Free Speech.”

Rosendo wrote, “When thinking about 9-11, we all take a step back thinking, ‘Wow, we kind of always had that coming.’”  Rest assured, I do not believe the U.S. ever deserved the 9-11 attack.  I have not yet spoken to anyone who did believe the U.S. deserved the 9-11 attacks.  This writer has obviously not spent time in the military defending this country, as I have.

Rosendo asked, when was the last time the U.S. did something for another country without a hidden agenda?  Does Ms. Rosendo know how much money the U.S. has sent for the Tsunami relief?  As well, how much money and manpower has the U.S. used to fight the IDS virus in Africa?  The O.I.L. acronym might have been funny except that we were in Operation Iraqi Freedom not Operation Iraqi Liberation.

Ms. Rosendo made a reference to the President of the University of Colorado being Bill Owens.  The president of the University is Dr. Elizabeth Hoffman.  Bill Owens is the governor of Colorado.  This writer should do some research prior to writing an article.

My last argument with this article is the comparison between President Bush and Adolf Hitler.  Like him or hate him, how can a person compare President Bush to someone who murdered over six million people?

I do believe in this person’s right to free speech, but people need to get their facts straight.

Sincerely,

Brian Haralson
