PTK organizes vigil, Relay for Life

Jacqui Streety, editor-in-chief

Phi Theta Kappa, in conjunction with the Hockley County Children’s Protective Services will be holding a candlelight vigil for abused children.

April is Child Abuse Awareness month and the purpose of the vigil is to call to attention the terrible amount of children who have died as a result of neglect and abuse this past year. The vigil is also to help people see the need for Children’s Protective Services and its workers.

The event attempts to direct attention particularly to the state of Texas and Hockley County.

The vigil will be held on Thursday, April 7 at 6 p.m. in the Sundown Room.  Anyone needing further information can contact Kim at Hockley County Family Outreach at (806) 894-2484.
