Student Government Association hosting BBQ

South Plains College Student government Association will work alongside the
Levelland Main Street Program and Chamber of Commerce to host the city’s first
ever Taste of Texas Barbecue Cook-Off.
The event is set to take place in the downtown Levelland
Square on April 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Anyone is welcome to participate in
the cook-off. Contestants can enter individually or as a group.
There will be an entry fee of $20 per team/individual.
Judging will be based on people’s choice, and first place will be awarded a
plaque.
Meal tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and $2
for students with ID. Drinks are not included in the cost of the meal ticket
and each meal will serve as one vote. Additional tickets can be purchased for
$1 each and up to 25 additional tickets can be purchased.
Entertainment will be provided by SPC’s Thursday Nite
Live, directed by Cary Banks. Other bands such as Indecent Exposure, Out to
Lunch and Blue Plate Special, directed by Mike Carraway, as well as Highway
114 and Fat Dawg, Directed by Steve Williams, will perform as well.
All proceeds will benefit the SPC SGA trip to the State
Convention, which will take place April 14-17 in Austin.
